Mondos
South-facing cobble and sand point on the North Ventura coast between Faria and Pitas Point. Soft peaks across a long stretch of shoreline. One of the gentler walls on this side of the Channel.
Spot intel
Parking
Free shoulder parking along the 101 frontage, no posted lot. Crossing the highway shoulder to the beach is the documented hazard.
Crowd
Moderate. Longboard and learner traffic year-round; the lineup spreads across multiple peaks instead of stacking on one.
Beginner-friendly?
Yes.
Soft point and cobble peaks, slow takeoff, room to sit wide. The catches are highway crossings, cobble underfoot at lower tide, and current on bigger swells, not the wave.
Lineup etiquette
Priority on a point goes to the deepest rider. The lineup is forgiving by Ventura County standards; paddling inside an active takeoff is still the standard call-out.
When it's on
West or west-northwest groundswell with light offshore wind from the north through northeast. South energy in summer fills in the inside peaks. Mid-tide window.
When beginners can paddle out
Waist-high to shoulder-high on any clean-wind morning. The peaks spread enough across the stretch that less experienced surfers can sit on their own bank.
